The Union County Health Department inspects schools twice a year. These are typically done in the spring and fall, during classroom hours. We base our inspections on the Ohio Department's of Health School Environmental Health Inspection Guidance Document. The guidelines are not enforceable by law, but aims to address the current issues in a school environment and protect the health of the building occupants.
Fact sheets and information found in the guidance document can be found on the Ohio Department of Health's website.
The inspections are scheduled with administrative staff at the schools. A written report is mailed or emailed to the contact people listed for the school. It is recommended that the school make notes pertaining to their remediation of any violations and submit those to the health department when complete.
