Cost for Immunizations

Cost for child immunizations varies depending on vaccine needed, the child's insurance status, and the family's financial situation. We do offer vaccines through the "Vaccines for Children" (VFC) program. The VFC program allows us to provide required vaccines for free or at reduced cost for children who are uninsured, under-insured or on medicaid.  We accept most private insurances as well. A sliding fee scale is avialble to those without insurance and no child is turned away for inability to pay for required vaccinations.

Back to School Immunizations

Is your child getting ready to enter school?  Please check with the school that they will be attending for a list of required immunizations for school.  Recommendations and requirements for school- age immunizations have been updated. Children entering kindergarten are required to have 2 varicella immunizations.  Children entering seventh grade are now required to have a meningitis vaccine and TDAP booster. Teens entering twelfth grade are now required to have a meningitis vaccine. If your child does not have the required immunizations, by state law, they may be excluded from school until they receive them. Please click here for more information on updates to Ohio school vaccination requirements.

The Union County Health Department offers several Back to School Shot clinics each fall. Please call for an appointment in late July or early August. Please be advised that the clinics in the last few weeks of August tend to be the busiest, so get your child up to date on their immunizations as early as possible!  Not sure what they need?  Contact your local school district or speak to the Immunization Nurse at the Union County Health Department by calling 937-642-2053.
