Campground Inspections
Please visit the following page for more information.
Ohio Residential and Day Camp Rules/Laws

Infectious Waste
We inspect infectious waste generators, such as doctors offices and Memorial Hospital, to insure that they are properly handling and disposing of their infectious waste.

Lead Consultations
We are available for lead consultations. Are you planning to buy, rent, or renovate a home built before 1978? Many houses and apartments build before 1978 have paint that contains lead (called lead-based paint). Lead from paint chips and dust can pose serious health hazards if not taken care of properly.

Mobile Home Park Inspections
All manufactured home parks in Ohio are licensed by the health department. In Union County, all manufactured home parks are inspected at least twice a year.

Plumbing
Call the Union County Engineer's Office (937-645-3018) for information on Plumbing permits and inspections

Rabies Prevention
Did your dog bite someone? Have you been bitten by a dog, cat, bat or other animal? Is there a live animal nearby that is acting very strange? Contact our office with the details.

Radon Consultations
Radon Fact Sheet from the Ohio Department of Health
We are available for radon consultations. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that can cause lung cancer. If you are building a new home, it is much cheaper to build a radon resistant home than to find out there's a problem later and try to fix it.
FREE Radon Test Kits - Contact our office for details.

Real Estate Transfer Inspections
Are you planning on buying a house that has a well or a septic system? Contact our office for an inspection of the water supply system (and a water sample) and the sewage disposal system. Who better to do this inspection? The health department has the original records for the home and is not biased in any way.

School Safety Inspections
All schools, public and private, in Union County are inspected twice a year to ensure that the school environment is safe for our children and those working in the schools.

Solid Waste
Does your neighbor or someone you know, not have their garbage picked up? Is it accumulating in the yard or a garage? Every home must properly dispose of their garbage, this may include weekly garbage pick up.
Can I burn my garbage?
Simply put... no! Contact our office if you have any comments or questions or would like a copy of the Ohio EPA's brochure on open burning.

Swimming Pool Inspections
Ohio Public Swimming Pool Rules
All public swimming pools in Ohio are licensed by the health department. In Union County, during the summer all outdoor public swimming pools are inspected at least twice a month. The indoor pools are inspected monthly year round.

Vector Control
(Bats, Cockroaches, Mice, Mosquitoes, Rats, Rodents, etc.)
We are available for consultations, but the Union County Health Department does not catch bats, eliminate cockroaches, mice or rats. If you need to eliminate pests, contact a licensed pest control operator (check the yellow pages under pest control services).
